1. Seminars

The training is structured around seminars divided into four levels: Beginner, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2, and Advanced. These seminars are taught by Real Pilates® Lead Trainers from New York, who will come to our studio to guide you.

Teaching Pilates is much more than memorizing a series of exercises. You will be challenged to practice and teach during each seminar, helping you truly internalize the skills. At the end of each seminar, you'll give a practice lesson to a real client, building confidence in your teaching abilities.

2. Observation

After the first seminar, you will begin observing immediately. Observations allow you to see experienced teachers in action with real clients. These are valuable moments for analysis, reflection on your learning, and professional development.

3. Teaching

Teaching is the heart of the training and represents at least 180 hours of instruction in the studio. If you have your own studio with classical equipment, you can teach part of these hours there.

4. Own Training: "Practice Makes Progress"

Real Pilates® has designed a specific 30-week training schedule to support you. Each week, you'll receive a detailed schedule with the equipment and exercise sequences to practice. You can practice your mat at home, for the equipment training, you’ll get full access to our studio to self-practice.

5. Private and Semi-Private Lessons

A good teacher is always a learner. Private and semi-private lessons are an essential part of any high-quality Pilates program. These lessons, twice a week for 30 weeks, will be taught by Host Trainer Lien and are included in the training package.

6. Homework, Study, and Assignments

Real Pilates Teacher Training® offers an online learning platform. Each week, you'll have access to podcasts, lectures, or videos to support your learning, along with hands-on techniques, observation tasks, and assignments.

  1. Beginner Seminar: APRIL 4-5-6  / 2025

Who can follow the Real Pilates® training?

Everyone can apply. We recommend candidates have at least 12 months of experience with classical studio equipment. Candidates should be 18 years or older and pass the test-out and interview.

Do I need to be in the studio to follow the training?

Yes, for most of the training time, you need to be present at the studio weekly.

Why must the program be completed in 30 weeks?

It has been proven that learning in an intensive environment yields the best long-term results and minimizes the risk of early dropout.
The Real Pilates® training program keeps you in sync with a group, allowing you to benefit from group dynamics and the support of fellow students who are in the same situation as you. This fosters collaboration and team spirit.
This approach results in a high level of training, which is rarely achieved in programs where everyone works at their own pace or in programs that take years to complete, where students never reach the final level of a comprehensive training.

What if I need more time?

All students have 30 days after the 30-week program to take their final exams. If an extension is needed, our team will work with you to reach the finish line within a reasonable time frame.

Is there an accelerated program?

No.
The Real Pilates® program is already very intensive and is designed with specific goals, training, and tasks for each of the 30 weeks. We ask all participants to stick to the schedule of 18 to 22 hours per week to avoid overloading themselves with study or training.
By maintaining a steady pace, we believe that 30 weeks is the minimum time you need to process this large amount of work. When you complete this program, you are responsible for the health and well-being of others. Such responsibility should not be taken lightly. Take your time, respect the process, and absorb every moment of your training.

If I join the BRIDGE program, can I only attend the seminars?

No.
There is no path to becoming a high-quality Pilates instructor where students only attend the seminars. Our seminars represent just 72 of the 600 required hours to earn the diploma.
The Bridge program is intended for Pilates instructors who have already trained in all the Pilates equipment in a previous comprehensive program. The number of teaching and observation hours is reduced, considering the prior teaching experience.

What happens if I have to miss a seminar?

There are a total of 4 seminars, so the program and dates are known before enrollment.
Trainees are required to attend all seminars in the order established by the program.
If your schedule does not allow you to attend a seminar, we recommend postponing your enrollment to a future training session.

Are all classical programs the same?

Not really.
The type of classical training depends on who and when the program founder studied with one of Joseph Pilates' direct students.
The Real Pilates® program was created by Alycea Ungaro, who studied with Romana Kryzanowska. Real Pilates® teaches the repertoire Romana taught in the early 1990s when she was at the height of her teaching. This repertoire is combined with contemporary knowledge of pedagogy and Alycea Ungaro's background as a physical therapist. This makes the Real Pilates Teacher Training® unique. Real Pilates® defines itself as "Classical Pilates - Contemporary Learning."

Does Alycea Ungaro teach all the seminars?

Alycea occasionally teaches a seminar. She mainly focuses on the development of the curriculum, the program, and training the RPTT team. She also teaches both trainees and clients.
Regardless of the seminars, Alycea will be part of your training, whether during seminars, observations, assignments, or exams. Alycea plays a personal role in every student's program!

Will I be a certified instructor after earning my diploma?

Although you may have heard otherwise, no Pilates training program can legally give you the title of "Certified Pilates Instructor." The Pilates method is not an officially recognized diploma in Belgium like it is in the United States.
The Real Pilates training is recognized by the Pilates Method Alliance and meets all the quality standards required of a Pilates teacher.
Keep in mind that in the future, it is possible that, like in other European countries, you will also need a professional sports teacher's card. In other words, secure your future in time!

Why do I need to invest so much in the Real Pilates® training?

There are many ways to become a Pilates instructor, but few ways to return to the authentic work developed by Joseph Pilates. The true value of your training lies in the expertise you acquire and your ability to work with all kinds of clients. Additionally, you become part of a heritage. When you join the Real Pilates Teacher Training®, you become part of this heritage and become a third-generation instructor. Joseph Pilates taught Romana, who taught Alycea, and now Alycea passes her knowledge and expertise to you.
If the cost seems higher than other programs, it's because we list the total costs upfront transparently. We don’t use a "for price, email us" strategy.
Look at the tuition; it is cheaper compared to comprehensive programs where you pay separately for each level.
We also immediately include other necessary costs, such as private and group lessons, and teaching under supervision, which are essential for becoming a quality instructor.
At Real Pilates®, all costs are included in the price because we believe there should be no surprises.
Remember, this is essentially two programs in one. We believe you should only need to take your Pilates training once. Too often, instructors finish their training and immediately sign up for another certification or workshops, spending significant time and money on further training. Our motto is, "Do it once, and do it right." It’s much cheaper to enroll in a comprehensive program than to start over with new training programs.
